The Trendy Photoshop Tutorial
This tutorial is based upon the one that once resided at Systemdark.com but is now defunct. This tutorial taught me many basic skills that are required to even use photoshop so I hope ya'll enjoy this.
1)Create a New Document 400x300. Now press D then X to reset your colors, White Foreground, Black BG.
2)Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool(circled red in pic) to create the shape below. Set your primary color to R:255, G:195, B:0(FFc300). Fill the shape with this color using the Paintbucket Tool.
3)Go to Layer/Duplicate Layer. Control+Click that layer in the Layers Pallete. It will highlight it with the dotted lines. Set your color now to R:255, G:221, B:114(FFDD72). Now fill that layer you currently have selected also with the Paintbucket Tool. Position the layers so they look like this.
4)Select the Lighter colored layer by ctrl+clicking it and then go to Layers/Merge Visible. The selected area should still be selected in this merged form so go ahead and go to Edit/Cut. Delete that Layer by going to Layer/Delete/Layer. Then create a new Layer by going to Layer/New/Layer and click OK. Now go to Edit/Paste and that selected area will now be back on the canvas.
5)Now go to Layer/New/Layer and click oK to create a new layer. Make what is pictured using the process in step 3 and 4. Using Black and Grey as your colors.
6)Go to Layer/Layer Style/Stroke--5px in Black Color.
7)Create another new layer and add in black lines along the edge like so using the Polygonal Lasso Tool.
8)Now to make our minibar codes that people love. Create a new Layer and grab your Pencil Tool(Right Click on the Brush tool if its not apparent--two icons up from the Paint Bucket Tool. Make the lines thicker or thinner by changing the pencil size. I used 5px,3px,1px.
9)Now use your Polygonal Lasso Tool to trim off parts of the barcode you don't want and then position the trimmed barcode by pressing Control+T(Select/Transform Selection).
10)Add your site name or word, whatever you like, then grab your text tool again to create numbers. I choose a 36px Font. After this is created make sure its positioned behind your Text(Site name/word) by going to your Layers Pallete and dragging that font below your Text(Site name/word). Then Ctrl+Click the Numbers(Font Color is #ED1C24 or R:237 G:28 B:36(text--666 in my example) to highlight them and go to Layer/Rasterize/Type. This will allow you to edit the number so you can cut/trim/position to your hearts desire.
11)Continue to customize as you want from there, also don't forget to add your Text. Hope you learned from this!
